Our church’s ministry of outreach and concern tries to balance our giving among Local, National and International efforts
Our church’s ministry of outreach and concern tries to balance our giving among Local, National and International efforts. Support is not necessarily always financial. We give the gifts of time, food and other things as well. Our contributions go towards supporting all of the fine Christ-centered organizations below.
Rejoice in knowing that we are helping to spread God’s love through the support of these efforts.

Friends in Christ,
A few years ago, our congregation attended an ecumenical service at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, across the street from our Hildale Park Presbyterian Church. It was jointly presented by both churches, with both me and their priest as leaders, and the combined choirs providing music. It is one of a series of joint events, but this one in particular kicked off the 2003 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
We also have occasional services in which our Jewish, Islam, and other faiths join to celebrate our common belief in a supreme being.
The recessional hymn had beautiful lyrics. I hope you find them as inspiring as I did.
Rev Tony MacNaughton
AS A FIRE IS MEANT FOR BURNING3
AS A FIRE IS MEANT FOR BURNING
|
As a fire is meant for burning
With a bright and warming flame,
So the church is meant for mission,
Giving glory to God's name.
Not to preach our creeds or customs,
But to build a bridge of care,
We join hands across the nations,
Finding neighbors everywhere.
We are learners; we are teachers;
We are pilgrims on the way.
We are seekers; we are givers;
We are vessels made of clay.
|
By our gentle, loving actions,
We would show that Christ is light.
In a humble, listening Spirit,
We would live to God's delight.
As a green bud in the springtime
Is a sign of life renewed,
So may we be signs of oneness
'Mid earth's peoples, many hued.
As a rainbow lights the heavens
When a storm is past and gone,
May our lives reflect the radiance
Of God's new and glorious dawn.

With this is mind, we invite you to join us to study, learn and grow. All you need is a Bible, one hour of your time and an openness to God's word.
